Getting started as a host.

Everything you need to begin, in six short steps. Not rules, just a guide. Feel free to come back to it whenever you like.

Step 1

Set up your page

Your personal Yohello page is all you need. Five things, and you are ready to share your link:

  • Your name and a photo that suits you
  • A short bio: two or three sentences about who you are and what people can ask you anything about
  • Your rate per minute for live conversations (starting low is fine; you can always adjust it)
  • Buttons to your Instagram and TikTok
  • Your availability: audio, or audio with video
  • Once you are approved: your first posts, a few photos or a short video
Example bio

"I love honest conversations, good coffee and people who stand for something. Curious? You know where to find me."

E

Not sure about your bio or photo? Send it to Esther via support and you will get feedback within a day.

Step 2

Publish your first posts

Your page is more than a business card: it is the place where your content lives. Post photos (several per post) and short videos (up to 1 minute) with a caption. Your followers see your new post in their feed and get a notification.

  • Hearts. A heart is a small signal that someone follows you and is watching. Visitors do not see any numbers, you do.
  • Replies are private. Only you and that one follower read a reply. That way people dare to say more than in a public comment.
  • Replies arrive in your inbox. Every reply appears as a message in your inbox, with a small image of the post. If you answer, your answer sits with the post, visible only to that follower.
  • For logged-in followers only. Anyone who opens your link without an account sees a preview and is invited to create an account.
E

Two or three posts a week is enough. Show what people can ask you anything about; that makes the step to a message or live conversation small.

What is not allowed

No 18+ content and no contact details or payment requests outside Yohello. Every post is checked automatically; if there is any doubt a member of staff takes a look and the post stays hidden until then.

E

Replies and messages are free, including voice and video. Getting a lot of messages? Turn on the message limit in Settings > Messages: a follower can then send you 5 messages per 24 hours until you reply. You stay unlimited.

Step 3

Share your link

This is the step that makes the difference. Without a link there are no conversations, and with one link in your bio you are already reachable for everyone who follows you. You do not have to sell Yohello to your followers: put the link in your bio, and every time you post something on Yohello, now and then open a door in an ordinary post or story.

The formula that works

Your story or moment plus a small invitation for a 1-on-1. No pitch, no explanation about the platform. Just you, with an open door.

Example post

"For anyone who wants more than a heart, I am here. Link in bio."

Example post

"Home tonight, good wifi and up for a nice chat. Who fancies a talk? Link in bio."

Example story

"Ask me anything, I am answering 1-on-1 today. Link is in my bio."

E

Put your link in your bio on Instagram and TikTok today, and post about it once. Mention it in your stories too: that is where people respond fastest.

Two or three posts a week is enough to stay visible. Being real works better than posting often. And every time you mention your link, someone new finds out you are reachable.

Step 4

Just let the conversation start

Every conversation is 1-on-1: one visitor, no onlookers, no audience. And nearly every conversation starts small: a message, a hesitant "hi", someone who only dares to type for now. That is exactly right: joining in by chat is always fine, and a microphone or camera will come on later by itself.

Visitorhi
YouHi! Nice of you to write. How are you doing?
Visitorgood haha, this feels a bit odd
YouI completely understand. No rush. Where do you know me from?
YouHello.
Visitor(silence)
YouI think we are both working out what to say.
Visitor(laughs) Yes... a little.

A greeting, a small question, a laugh. That is all it takes, the rest follows by itself. You do not have to carry the conversation; a conversation is something you create together.

Step 5

During the conversation

What almost always works

  • Listening is stronger than talking. Small follow-up questions ("How did you come to that?", "And how did that feel?") make any conversation more valuable.
  • A little lightness is enough. When you laugh, the other person relaxes too.
  • Silence is not a problem. One simple question ("So how was your day?") almost always helps.
  • Not going anywhere? Wrap up calmly. "I enjoyed talking for a bit, I am going to end the conversation here." No further explanation needed.

Your boundaries, always

You decide what you do and do not do. That is the heart of how Yohello works. If someone crosses your boundary: say so calmly, wrap up if it does not stop, and block if needed (they get no notification about it).

You never have to explain or justify anything. How you feel is enough.

Every conversation is stored encrypted in your own account: 45 days, or unlimited with a star. Listening back is the quickest way to find out what works for you.

Step 6

Your time is paid for

  • Posts, hearts and replies. Free for your followers, and the reason behind nearly every live conversation.
  • Live conversations. Per second, at your rate per minute.
  • Messages are free. Text, voice and video, in both directions. Reply with text or with a voice or video message, whenever it suits you.
  • A thank-you from a visitor for a nice conversation simply counts too, at the same share.
In your bank account every Monday.

No minimum amount, with a clear breakdown in your account.

Your share starts at 75% and grows automatically as you have more conversations, up to 90%. The more often you share your link, the faster that goes. You will find the figures and levels on the host page and in the calculator; practical questions are answered in the FAQ for hosts.

Questions? Send Esther a message via support, you always get a personal reply.
