Frequently asked questions
Everything you want to know about how Yohello works: from your page and your posts to sharing your link with your followers. Choose what brings you here:
How does Yohello work?
Yohello is a platform for exclusive one-to-one conversations. Hosts: people who have signed up deliberately and are verified, share a personal page through their social media bio. Through that page you can message them or start a live conversation.
It is not a dating platform and it is not meant for intimate or erotic conversations. It is a place for real, personal attention.
Hosts share their Yohello page through the link in their social media bio, on Instagram, TikTok or wherever they are active. Click that link and you land straight on their personal page.
You do not need an account to view a profile. You do need one to send a message or start a conversation.
A host's page shows their name, photo, story and rate, and below that the posts: photos and short videos. If you are logged in, you can open every post, give it a heart and reply. Without an account you see a preview of the posts.
You see the host's new posts in your feed, you get a notification when there is a new post and you hear about it when the host is available live. You can always unfollow with the same button.
Only you and the host. A reply to a post is a private conversation between the two of you: other visitors do not see your reply, and you do not see theirs. The host's answer appears with the post and also arrives as a message in your inbox. Replying is free.
No. Yohello deliberately shows no counters to visitors: you only see your own heart and your own replies. That way it is about your contact with the host, not about numbers.
To send a message, reply to a post or start a live conversation you need an account. Signing up is quick: all you need is a name, an email address and a password.
An account also gives you access to your conversation history, your credit and your settings. And did you know that with the same account you can later become a host yourself?
Message (free): send a written message, a voice message or a video message (max. 1 minute). The host replies when they want and can, in their own time, also with text, voice or video. Messages are always free, both ways.
Reply to a post (free): give a heart or reply to a post by the host. Your reply is private: only you and the host see it.
Live conversation (per minute): if the host is available you can send a live request right away. You pay per second, only for the time you are actually in conversation, at the host's rate.
Yes, and they are free. If the host allows it (on by default) you see a microphone and a camera icon in the bar at the bottom of the conversation. A voice or video message lasts up to 60 seconds. A host can turn on a message limit; see "Are messages free?" below.
Yes. Every host who can earn has signed up and is verified through Veriff, a GDPR certified identity verification partner. You are always talking to a real person.
Yes, with the same account. In your account you click "Become a host": you verify your identity once and fill in your bank account number, and after approval you set your own rate. Then you put your link in your bio and your audience can reach you straight away. Read all about it on Yohello for hosts.
Payments & credit
Messages and replies are free, including voice and video. You only pay for live conversations and tips, with credit topped up in advance on your account. Topping up is safe through iDEAL or credit card (via our payment provider Stripe), from €2.50. You always see how much credit you have before you start.
Remaining credit simply stays on your account and can be refunded on request.
Nothing. Written messages, voice messages and video messages are free, for you and for the host. You do not need credit for them.
A host can turn on a message limit, though. You can then send that host up to 5 messages per 24 hours until the host replies; after that the counter starts again. You see in the conversation how many messages you can still send. Replies to posts do not count.
Every host sets their own rate per minute. That rate is always visible on the host page before you start. You pay per second, never more than expected, and you stop whenever you want.
To start a paid live conversation you need at least €2.50 in credit, so the conversation does not stop again straight away.
Yes. If you think a conversation or reply is worth it, you can send the host a tip from your credit during or after a conversation. You choose the amount. Please note: a tip is a gift and cannot be refunded.
If your credit is nearly used up you are warned in good time. If it reaches zero, the conversation ends automatically. You never pay more than the credit you have topped up.
Yes. Remaining credit can be refunded on request to the payment method you used to top up. Get in touch at support@yohello.com.
Live conversations
If a host is available you will see that on their page. Click "Send a live request": they receive your request and choose whether to accept. As soon as they accept, the conversation starts and the time runs.
On the host page you see their current status: available, offline, paused for now or in a conversation with someone else. If they are offline you can set a notification: as soon as the host is back online you receive an email. Or send a message in the meantime, written (free) or as a voice or video message.
A host is reachable with audio at a minimum; many hosts also offer video. You can see this on the host page. You choose how you join: chat only is fine too, and during the conversation you can still turn on your microphone or camera if you want.
Yes. You and the host can end the conversation at any time. You only pay for the seconds that have actually passed.
Conversations are stored encrypted and are only accessible to you and the host, not to third parties. Conversations you mark with a star are always kept. Other recordings expire after 45 days and cannot be viewed again after that.
Privacy & safety
The host sees your username and the messages or conversations you have had. Personal details such as your email address or payment information are never visible to them.
Want even more privacy? Then turn on anonymous mode in your settings: the host then sees "A visitor" instead of your name and profile photo.
No. You can choose a username that feels right to you. Your real name is only visible to Yohello internally, purely for verification and payment purposes.
Yes. You can always block a host through their profile. They are not notified and cannot message you afterwards.
Did something happen that was not right? Then get in touch at support@yohello.com. We take every report seriously.
Yohello complies with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). We work exclusively with GDPR certified partners and process your data only to run the platform.
You always have the right to view, correct or delete your data. Send an email to support@yohello.com for this.
Yes. Through Settings · Account you can delete your account at any time. Your deletion is then scheduled and becomes final after 30 days: all your data, messages and conversation history are permanently deleted after that.
Do you still have credit left? Then request a refund before deleting, at support@yohello.com. After deletion, remaining credit expires.
Becoming a host & verification
With your normal Yohello account. You create (or already have) a free account, log in and click "Become a host". There you verify your identity once through Veriff, passport, driving licence or identity card all work, and you fill in your IBAN so payouts can go straight to you.
After that, someone from our team reviews your application. In the meantime you can already set up your page, put your link in your bio and have free conversations. Once you are approved you set your rate and earn from every conversation.
A Verified Host is a host who has been approved by Yohello to earn. To get there you verify your identity with Veriff, add your bank account and a team member reviews your application.
You recognise a Verified Host by the blue check mark next to the name on the host page and in the host guide. Only a Verified Host can set a rate, have live conversations and publish posts.
ID verification makes sure that everyone earning on Yohello really is who they say they are. That protects you as a host, and gives visitors confidence. For this we work with Veriff, a GDPR certified verification partner.
Your data is processed securely and never shared without your permission.
Veriff usually processes the ID verification within a few minutes; sometimes it takes up to one working day if a manual check is needed. After that, someone from our team approves your application to earn, usually within one working day.
You do not have to wait: setting up your page and sharing your link can start right away. Esther will welcome you personally as soon as your host page is up.
No, one account per person is allowed, and that is enough: with that same account you are both visitor and host. This is part of our verification procedure and keeps the platform fair and safe.
Yes. Open your own page and click "Edit": you change your name, subtitle, bio, photo, category, languages, socials and rate right on the page. You manage your posts there too.
Tip: a well filled in page with a few posts attracts more visitors. Take the time to present yourself, then put your link in your bio.
In the place where your audience already follows you. The fixed spot is the link in your bio on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or X. If you already use a link collector, put Yohello at the top.
- Bio: put the link in your bio and briefly mention what people can ask you.
- Stories: share the link now and then with a sticker, and pin one as a highlight.
- Under a post: point to your bio when someone asks a question that is too long for the comments.
- Newsletter or community: one line with your link is often enough.
Mention that text is free. That lowers the threshold to start, and many conversations carry on by themselves after that.
Keep it short and concrete. Name what people can come to you for and that it is one-to-one, so not in the comments.
For example: "Ask me something personal through my Yohello, link in bio. Writing is free." Or: "Want to talk one-to-one for a bit? I am available live tonight through the link in my bio."
Feel free to share your link more often than you think. Far from everyone sees your message the first time.
The link sits permanently in your bio, so you do not have to keep repeating it. Mention it when there is a reason: after a post with lots of questions, when you go online, or when you tell something people respond to.
Actively mentioning it once a week feels comfortable for most hosts. You are offering something, you are not pushing anything.
Posts, hearts and followers
Photos (several per post) and short videos (up to 1 minute), with a caption. You post them from My page or with the plus button in the app. Only logged in visitors see your posts; anyone who opens your link without an account sees a preview and is invited to create an account. You can post as soon as you are approved as a host.
Only you and the visitor who replies. Every visitor has their own private reply thread per post. With each post you see all threads, with the number of unread replies and how many different visitors replied. Replies also arrive as a message in your inbox, so you can answer straight away; your answer then appears with the post, visible only to that visitor.
Nothing. Visitors see no number of hearts, views or followers; those numbers are only for you, on your own page, your dashboard and in Reports. A visitor only sees their own heart and their own replies.
Visitors follow you with the button on your page. Followers see your new posts in their feed, get a notification when there is a new post and hear about it when you are available live. On your dashboard you see how many followers you have and how many joined this week.
Yes. Every post is checked automatically against the house rules: no 18+ content, no violence, no contact details or payment requests outside Yohello. If in doubt, a team member reviews the post; until then it is hidden. You get a notification as soon as the post is visible, or if it has been rejected.
Not directly: posts, hearts, replies and messages are free for your followers. They do create contact. From a post or a message, a live conversation or a tip is a small step, and that is what you earn from, at your rate.
Earnings & payouts
That is largely up to you. You set your own rate per minute for live conversations, within the range that belongs to your level. Amounts are after service fees and VAT processing.
So at a rate of €0,70/min on Level 1 level you earn a net €0,43 per minute. You also earn from tips, at the same share. Calculate your earnings
Payouts take place every Monday, for the conversations of the previous week. You receive the amount directly in the IBAN bank account you provided at "Become a host", which you can change in your account settings if you want.
There is no minimum payout amount. Any amount is transferred every Monday.
Messages are free, including voice and video, for you and your visitors. A visitor sends you a written message, a voice message or a video message (max. 1 minute); you reply when it suits you, with text or with voice or video. There is no reply deadline and you do not earn from them directly: you earn with live conversations and tips.
Per conversation you can turn off voice and video from a visitor with the microphone icon at the top of the conversation. Getting a lot of messages? Then have a look at "How does the message limit work?".
Visitors can send you a tip during or after a conversation: an amount they choose themselves, as a token of appreciation. Tips go straight to your earnings and follow your level percentage, so at Level 4 you keep 90% of every tip.
Levels go up automatically as soon as you reach the matching thresholds. You do not have to apply for this.
| Level | Requirements |
|---|---|
| Level 2 | 300 conversation minutes + 5 unique paying contacts |
| Level 3 | 1,000 minutes + 15 unique paying contacts |
| Level 4 | 3,000 minutes + 50 unique paying contacts |
A level you have reached, you keep. Even if you are less active later on, your percentage does not go down.
Unique paying contacts come in through your link. The more visible that link is in your bio and your stories, the sooner you reach the thresholds.
Are you self employed and registered with the Chamber of Commerce (KVK)? Then link your VAT number to your account. You then receive your payouts including VAT and pay that yourself.
If you work as a private individual, you do not have to arrange anything for this. Yohello handles the VAT with visitors, you simply receive your net amount.
As a digital platform we are legally obliged to report host income to the Dutch tax authorities each year, in line with the European DAC7 directive.
After every payout you receive a downloadable statement of your earnings in your account. A full overview per calendar year is also available, which you can use for your tax return if you wish.
Live conversations & availability
Visitors can send you a live request on your profile page when you are available. You receive the call and choose yourself whether to accept the conversation. As soon as you accept, the paid time starts running, per second.
You decide when you are available. There is also no obligation to answer every request.
Yes. You choose whether you offer audio with video, or audio only. This is shown to your visitors on your profile page. You set this in your availability settings in your host portal.
A visitor may always join at a "lower" level than you offer: chat only is fine too, and during the conversation they can still turn on their microphone or camera.
Yes, by default they can, and for free. If you do not want it in a particular conversation, you turn it off with the microphone icon at the top of that conversation; the visitor can then only send text. Voice and video messages last up to 60 seconds.
By default a visitor can send you unlimited messages. Would you like to keep your inbox calmer? Then turn on the message limit in Settings > Messages. A visitor can then send you up to 5 messages per 24 hours until you reply; after your reply the counter starts again. You can always send unlimited messages.
The visitor sees in the conversation how many messages are left and gets a clear explanation when the limit is reached. Support conversations and replies to your posts do not count. The number per 24 hours is set by Yohello.
In your host portal you set yourself online or offline. When you are offline, visitors see an unavailable status on your profile and can request a notification for when you are available again. If you are in a live conversation, other visitors see that you are in a conversation.
You do not have to set fixed hours. Go online when it suits you, and offline when you want some rest.
Going online? Put it in a story with your link. Most conversations start shortly after you mention it.
You always receive your payment for the live time actually spent. Visitors pay per second from credit topped up in advance, so there is no risk of non payment afterwards.
Every conversation is automatically stored encrypted for you and your visitor and is only accessible to you and the person you spoke with, each in their own account, not to third parties. Conversations you mark with a star are always kept. Other recordings expire after 45 days and cannot be viewed again after that. Prefer no recordings at all? You can turn that off in your settings.
Yes. You can always block someone. That person can then no longer reach you and is not notified about it. You do not have to give a reason.
Come across something that feels out of line? Then feel free to contact Esther, she is always ready to support you.
Safety & privacy
Visitors only see what you put on your profile: your name, photo, subtitle, bio and social media links. Your IBAN, phone number and verification details are never visible to others.
Yohello processes your data only to run the platform, in line with the GDPR.
Yes. Your link leads to your host page, and that only shows what you filled in yourself. Your address, phone number, email address and IBAN never appear on it.
You stay in control: you decide when you are online, who you block and whether you allow voice or video messages. That means you can share your link widely without worry.
No. You can use a different name or first name on your profile page. Your real name is only visible to Yohello internally, for verification and payout purposes.
Many hosts choose a slight variation on their own name, a name they already use on their social media or a name that suits their style. That works well, and your audience recognises you straight away when you share your link.
Yes. Through Settings · Account in your host portal you can pause your account at any time. Your profile then shows a paused for now status and visitors cannot message you while the pause is active.
Want to delete your account permanently? Then choose Delete my account in that same section. Your deletion is scheduled and becomes final after 30 days: all your data, contacts, messages and conversations are permanently deleted after that.
Yohello complies with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). We work exclusively with GDPR certified partners, including Veriff for identity verification.
You always have the right to view, correct or delete your data. Send an email to support@yohello.com for this.
